During the colder months, skiing and snowboarding at The Lecht Ski Centre or Glenshee Snowsports Centre are popular activites for our guests.

Royal Deeside and the Cairngorms are regarded as the best in Scotland for cycling and mountain biking. From gentle cycling along flat and quiet country lanes to arduous mountain trails, the area has something to satisfy every level of cyclist.

Cairngorm Bothies have multiple forestry and woodland walks starting right outside your door with many more within a couple miles of the Bothies. The hillwalking routes in the area will really get the blood pumping with something for all levels of experience.

History is writ large here. Ancient sites and symbols mark this as a heartland of the ancient Picts. In the millennia that followed, no fewer than 300 castles were built here. Infact, there are more castles per square mile in Royal Deeside than in any other part of Scotland.

We are animal lovers at Cairngorm Bothies and we welcome horses to stay because our surroundings are perfect for quality riding along the riverside, woodland and mountains. Don’t worry if you don’t have your own horse there are Equestrian centres in the area.
